January is here, and with it a new lockdown. Because of this, and the new Covid variant, I have decided the safest thing to do is close the shop for the time being.
I will still be doing local home deliveries, collection from the shop is also an option but I would rather deliver to avoid people making journeys where possible, and I am not planning to be at the shop much so delivery is preferable.
Within shaftesbury there is no charge for delivery, there will be a charge for further afield depending on distance. Up to 3 miles £2.50 (free over £25), 3-7 miles £5, (Min £10, Free over £25), 7-10 miles £7(Min £15, Free over £25). List of villages in each zone at the end of this post, if in doubt please ask.
I can deliver further afield, please ask. Charges will depend on the amount ordered. Join together with your neighbours to make it worthwhile!
I am in the process of ordering new seasonal stock. Seeds are already in, I suggest ordering these sooner rather than later as they may sell out quickly this year, last Spring during lockdown all the suppliers completely ran out of stock!!
Seed trays, propagators, coir pots etc are all on order and will be arriving shortly. Dalefoot compost is also arriving next Wednesday, I have some Seed compost already, more coming. Sadly they don't have any Ericaceous until Mid Feb or so, watch this space...
As the shop is closed and I have no passing trade, I will not be buying much in the way of plants at least during January. This is a good time for you to plan ahead for your garden, in the Winter you can see gaps, and lockdown gives us all a chance to get out there and do a bit of digging! Planting during this coldest time of year is not the best idea anyway, the plants wont thank you for sticking them in cold soil. By waiting a short while, the soil will warm up a bit and the plants will take a lot quicker.
Please do let me know if you are after anything particular, I can start making lists to place orders when the time comes, and knowing what people want makes ordering a lot easier. I can offer a discount for plants ordered and paid for in advance.
I think that's enough for this rambling post, here are the list of places in each delivery zone.
